從一開始的幾個合音, 鋼琴家湯姆.格蘭特(Tom Grant)把握時間展現他優美永恆的季節曲調(冬季仙境 Winter Wonderland).然後是長期在紐奧良的爵士迪西蘭樂團(Dixieland Remebers)獻上一首悠閒的鋼琴與低音貝斯的(聖誕歌曲 The Christmas Song).
查德羅森爵士三重奏(Chad Lawson Trio)跟著分享他們輕快的詮釋爵士歌曲(天使歌唱在高天 Angles We Have Heard On High). 爵士傳奇人物奧斯卡.彼德森(Oscar Peterson)接著唱流行的節日歌曲(讓雪下吧 Let It Snow), 其中包含這位偶像人物的令人印象深刻的鋼琴即興重複樂段(riff).
接下來是迪西蘭樂團用鋼琴與長號的獨奏表演令人思鄉的(我會回家過聖誕節 I'll Be Home For Christmas). 下一首富有表達力與充滿活力的原音低音貝斯彈奏的經典結日曲調(先生, 願主賜給你們歡樂 God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen), 是一首到現在仍然被演奏的最古老的聖誕歌曲之一. 接著是休士頓.彼德森(Houston Peterson)用搖擺樂風格詮釋藍調敘事曲(聖誕節藍調 Blue Christmas).

Deck the halls with uplifting jazz for the holidays. From the first few chords, pianist Tom Grant spares no time in presenting his charming spin on the timeless seasonal tune, "Winter Wonderland." Then, longtime New Orleans traditional jazz band, Dixieland Ramblers, offer a laidback piano and bass take on "The Christmas Song."
After focusing on classical and theatrical music, the Chad Lawson Trio share their sprightly jazz rendition of "Angels We Have Heard On High." Jazz legend Oscar Peterson follows with his take on the popular holiday song, "Let It Snow," which includes impressive piano riffs by the icon himself. The Dixieland Ramblers follow, with piano and trombone trading solos on the wistful, "I'll Be Home For Christmas." The expressive and energetic plucking of acoustic bass introduces the next classic holiday tune by tenor saxophonist Houston Person, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," one of the oldest Christmas carols still being performed today. Then Houston Person returns with his swinging rendition of the moody ballad, "Blue Christmas."
The New Orleans jazz music scene has been the birthplace of many well-known holiday classics, whether traditional covers or all-original tunes, that incorporate the heart and soul of the Crescent City. One such tune is "Christmas Time In New Orleans," performed here by Lars Edegran and His Santa Claus Revelers and the late "Big Al" Carson.
Papa Don Vappie's New Orleans Jazz Band is another Lousiana outfit bringing new flavor to old-time traditions. Led by jazz banjo player Don Vappie, this band offers a boisterous rendition of "Silver Bells." Finally, closing out the seasonal celebration is singer and pianist Charles Brown's bluesy "Bringing In A Brand New Year."
With both familiar carols and new interpretations, the songs on Putumayo's Jazz Christmas collection are bound to fill listeners with the joy and good cheer the holidays can provide.
